Dr. Etabong Jerry Esua
Medical Director, Hope Parma Hospital Kossala, Kumba
Divine Amore School of Midwives & Health Personnel was founded by Dr. Etabong Jerry Esua, a distinguished physician whose career bridges decades of clinical practice, surgical specialisation and an unwavering commitment to advancing healthcare education across Cameroon. He also serves as the Medical Director of Hope Parma Hospital in Kosala VI, Kumba the very institution that anchors the school's clinical training.
Dr. Esua completed his postgraduate medical training at the Università degli Studi di Parma, Italy, where he specialised in Obstetrics & Gynaecology and Human Reproduction, with a sub-specialty in General Surgery. It was during those formative years in Italy that he became acutely aware of how transformative a well-structured nursing and midwifery curriculum can be for entire communities and of how greatly such training was needed back home in Cameroon.
The dream of building a school dedicated to training the next generation of midwives and nurses was conceived in Parma. Years later that vision took shape in Kosala VI, Kumba the home of Hope Parma Hospital, itself named in tribute to the Italian city that inspired his journey. In 2019, the Ministry of Public Health formally authorised DASMHP, and the first cohort of students walked through its doors.
The school operates in close collaboration with Hope Parma Hospital, giving students a unique advantage from their very first weeks: a well-equipped, real-world clinical ground where they sharpen practical skills under the direct supervision of practising professionals. Few schools can offer this depth of hands-on exposure and even fewer can do so under the personal mentorship of their own founder.
Today, Dr. Esua continues to lead both Hope Parma Hospital and Divine Amore School with the same vision he brought home from Italy: to raise compassionate, technically excellent healthcare professionals and, through them, to lift the standard of care for every patient, every mother and every newborn in the communities the school serves.
